Full PAL (32-bit version)
Installation on a PC acting as the PAL Server:
NOTE: If
you encounter any problems installing the PAL software, please contact the PAL
Support Department.
1. Verify that the PC acting as

This version of PAL must run on Windows 95 or higher operating system.
NOTE: This is a very lengthy installation process which may take several hours to complete.
2. Insert CD #1 in the computer's CD-ROM drive. In the following examples, drive letter "D" designates the CD-ROM drive.
3. On the Windows desktop, click the Start button, then click Run. Use the Browse button to locate the CD-ROM drive, or type the drive letter and D:\Setup.exe , then click OK.

4. In the Choose Setup Language dialog box, select the language to be used in the Setup program.
The setup program executes and the InstallShield Wizard guides you through the remainder of the installation.
5. At the PAL Setup Wizard box, click the Next button to continue the installation.
6. When the PAL License Agreement window appears, use the scroll bar on the right to read the license agreement. Select Yes to continue the installation or No to abort the program.
7. If your computer does not have Adobe Reader (Windows NT 4.0, 2000, or Millennium), the program prompts to install Adobe Reader Version 4.0 (required for viewing technical publications).
If your computer is running Windows 95 or Windows 98, additional setup programs must be loaded. The system prompts to load the Microsoft Data Access (MDAC) 2.5 program. Click Yes to install the program.
The next screen is the license agreement

configurations.
Click the Administrator selection from the previous screen then click the Next button. This places all of the program files, data, and images on the PC server thus allowing them to be shared by multiple client PC's. This places the data in a central location which then requires loading only the basic operating programs on the individual clients.

10. When the next window appears, click the Hard Drive bullet, then click
the Next button.
11. When the Choose Folder box appears, keep the default folder designation and click the OK button to continue.
12. The Setup Status window appears displaying the completion percentage of the installation.
When prompted by the system, remove the current CD from the drive and insert the CD requested by the installation program.
NOTE: This is a very lengthy process which may take several hours to complete.
13. The next window to appear is the Note Conversion box. Click on Begin Conversion to copy any notes from the existing PAL version to the new format. When finished, click the Close button.
If the notes file is not found, the Note Conversion process is not run. Click
the OK button to continue.
WARNING:

process has stopped. Click the OK button, then restart the installation process
at step 1 above to complete the installation.
Another window normally appears when

or Uninstall selection. Click the Repair option, then click the Next

Click the Finish button to end the installation program and return to the
Windows Desktop.
15. At this point, reboot the PC by clicking Start, then Shut Down, select the Restart bullet and click OK. This allows the system to make the necessary file modifications for the proper operation of the PAL server.
16. A new PAL icon should appear on the Windows Desktop. Double-click on the PAL icon to launch the new programs. The windows shown on the following page appear.

Mapping a Network Drive
If PAL has been previously installed on a
PC, this procedure is probably not required. This is used to map a drive letter

Pal Interface to function properly.
Use the following procedure to
determine if drives need to be mapped:
1. Double-click on the My Computer icon found on the Windows Desktop.
2. You should see icons with the labels: catcon on scocsys1 (drive E) and csyslnk on scocsys1 (drive F).
If drives "E" and "F" do not appear, use the following procedure to map the drives.
1. Right-click on the Network Neighborhood icon found on the Windows Desktop.
2. Click Map Network Drive from the menu.
3. For drive "E:", type \\SCOCSYS1\CATCON in the "Path" box, check the Reconnect at Logon box, and click the OK button.

4. Repeat steps 1 and 2, then for drive "F:", type \\SCOCSYS1\CSYSLNK in the "Path" box, check the Reconnect at Logon box, and click the OK button.

5. This initiates the required connections between the PC and the c-Systems server.
